OK – not QUITE in paradise. We were in Verona, New York. But STYX had the room in a frenzy.
My wife and I, aging rockers to be sure, love a good concert, especially if it features a classic band from the ’60s or ’70s. And, after seeing STYX totally destroy the House Of Blues in Myrtle Beach two Springs ago, we were reminded of just how great they were – and are. So, I jumped at these tickets and gave them to Wendy (and myself) for Christmas. We were NOT disappointed.
Like Frampton, these guys seem to have only improved with age. Their musicianship is excellent, and their energy and stage presence matches any twenty-something band.
I recommend any baby boomer to reconnect with STYX whenever possible. But why limit it to us geezers. I noted several Gen Y-ers tagging along with mom and dad – and they seemed to love it. The band noted this, as well, and made special efforts at dropping picks and other souvenirs on the table of some kids sitting next to the stage.
STYX has an incredible repetoire of classic hits, and they put on an exciting, fun, professional, impressive show. Check ‘em out.
