Software Preview

ProfitPro™, proprietary SMT cost estimating software developed by Dr. Ronald C. Lasky for Indium, was used to model the average assembly line of an Electronics Manufacturing Service (EMS). This EMS had an average line cycle time of 20 seconds and 50 hours weekly for setup time. The assembly line produced about $2.7 million in gross profit on about $30 million in sales in one year.

ProfitPro™ was then used to perform analysis of the dependence of profit on cycle time for this line. The striking results are shown in the graph below:

Note that decreasing the cycle time from 20 to 15 seconds doubled the profits!
