Indium and indium alloy wire is used as a low-temperature solder and a lead-free solder. It is also widely used in hermetic sealing applications. Pure indium wire is most often used in cryogenic applications because the indium remains soft and malleable even in these harsh conditions. Even alloys with only 5% indium can provide improved thermal fatigue properties.
Contact us today to discuss your application
and how our wire can work for you.
We can quickly fill your order, from evaluation/research quantities up to full-scale production volumes. Our most popular alloys and diameters are shipped from stock in less than 48 hours. Other options are available for shipment within one week.
We can also custom manufacture a wide range of alloys and diameters. Just ask!
Recycle Your Indium
For those applications (like cryogenic sealing) where indium is reclaimable from the process, our easy recycling program is just what you need.

In addition to using pure indium, over 100 alloys can be made into wire. Common alloy families are: indium-lead, gold-tin, tin-lead, and bismuth. We also produce the common Pb-free alloys.
Adding silver, tin, or other elements to indium drastically changes the physical properties of the alloy. In some cases, these changes allow us to produce wire diameters as small as .001” (.025mm). They also change the alloy’s melting point, the alloy’s hardness and ductility, and more.
Indium alloy’s melting points range from 47°C (117°F) to 313°C (595°F). We can also custom design alloys for your application.
Each order comes with a certificate of conformance and a certificate of analysis.
Indium Alloy Wire Diameters
We manufacture indium and indium alloy wire in diameters from .001" (0.025mm) to .250" (6.35mm), and larger. Actual dimensions achievable are subject to the properties of each metal.
Pure Indium Wire Diameters
Our minimum diameter for pure indium wire is .010” (0.25mm). If your needs fall outside of this range, please speak to an applications engineer for other solutions or a best-effort evaluation order.
We have developed standard tolerances but can work with you to accommodate any special requirements. Standard tolerances are:
|Up to .002" (.050mm)||±.0005" (.0127mm)|
|>.002" (.050mm) to .010" (.254mm)||±.001" (.025mm)|
|>.010" (.254mm) to .060" (1.52mm)||±.002" (.050mm)|
|>.060" (1.52mm) to .250" (6.35mm)||±.003" (.076mm)|
Indium wire is packaged on spools and protected to ensure that the wire doesn’t cold weld or flatten.
The shelf life of indium alloy wire is determined by the specific alloy and its resistance to oxidation, as well as the storage container and the conditions under which it is stored.
To increase storage time and keep surface oxidation to a minimum, tightly seal the wire in the original container at 55% RH or less, at or below 22°C. Wire can also be stored in an inert atmosphere, such as a nitrogen dry box.
