Component Mounting
NanoFoil® is a new material consisting of thousands of alternating nanoscale layers of elements such as Aluminum and Nickel. Once activated, inter-mixing between the alternating metal layers leads to heat generation within the foil. The heat can be used to melt adjoining solder layers and join components together without having to heat the components over the melting point of the solder. NanoFoil can be used to join any two components together as long as the surface finish of the components are solderable. Examples of such surfaces include a gold or silver metallization or a surface which has undergone acid etch to remove oxide.
