Flux-Coated Solder Preforms

Flux-coated solder preforms can offer an efficient solution for many soldering applications. Because flux-coated preforms provide an exact and repeatable amount of solder and flux to any surface in one step, it can be introduced easily into your manufacturing process.

Both the solder preforms and the flux are made to very tight tolerances, resulting in consistent solder joints. This improves efficiency and manufacturing yields.

Flux-coated preforms:

Flux coatings for preforms are available in no-clean and solvent cleanable chemistries, with a variety of activity levels to suit your substrate metallizations.

Indium Corporation's unique coating process can control the amount of flux to tight tolerances. Flux coatings are measured and applied by weight percentage. The recommended amount of flux is 1% (+/-0.5%) by weight. This precise amount of flux eliminates operator variations when applying flux as a separate step. Coatings up to 3% are possible, but not required.

No-Clean Fluxes

Indium Corporation's no clean flux coatings satisfy the most recent requirements for no-clean and RoHS- and REACH-compliant materials.

NC-10HF - is a halide-free flux with excellent wetting. It provides increased adherence of the flux to the preform and minimizes clogging of pick & place equipment or bowl feeders. It can be used on any substrate surface and can be coated onto any solder material.
NC-7 - is mildly activated and meets all current industry-wide halogen-free and halide-free requirements
NC-9 - contains a small amount of halogen. It has superior reliability on even the most sensitive electronics assemblies. It has activity approaching that of a fully activated rosin flux, while maintaining its no-clean status.
