January 28, 2021

Indium Corporation, Utica's Technology Company®, is pleased to announce Kay Parker, Quality Engineering Applications Specialist, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties.

"During my time in the Mohawk Valley I have been a part of many community organizations that make it their mission to make a difference in the lives of others," Parker said. "I am eager to continue this work and make a great impact with the Community Foundation."

Parker first joined Indium Corporation as a college intern before joining the company full-time in 2018. In her current role, she is focused on the improvement of different manufacturing processes, equipment, techniques, and materials to optimize industry applications. This includes supporting root cause investigations through product testing, data collection, and failure analysis. Parker also assists with customer data requests, quality surveys, and internal audits. She earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics with a minor in engineering science from the State University of New York Polytechnic Institute, where she started an award-winning robotics club among refugee students that was sponsored by a National Science Foundation grant. She studied chemical engineering at the Federal University of Technology in Owerri, Nigeria, before moving to the Mohawk Valley.

In addition to her upcoming 2021 appointment to the volunteer board, Parker has worked with multiple community organizations including the Midtown Utica Community Center, OnPoint for College, Rescue Mission of Utica, Mohawk Valley Community Action Agency, and Upstate Cerebral Palsy.
