Indium Corporation Announces Career Fair

September 30, 2021

Indium Corporation has a number of immediate openings in its Utica, Rome, and Clinton facilities and is offering prospective employees the opportunity for on-the-spot interviews as part of its Career Fair Experience Day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 1605 Genesee Street (Scott Street side door) in Utica.

Applicants are encouraged to bring their families to participate in a day of music, food, and community building. The event is hosted by the Innovation Collective; community partners are AmeriCorps, the Black Leadership Coalition of Utica, NY, Mohawk Valley Community College Fresh Start Re-Entry, the Mohawk Valley Latino Association, and Mohawk Valley YouthBuild.

“Since our founding in 1934, Indium Corporation has remained committed to giving back to our community,” said Dawn Roller, associate vice president of human resources. “We’re continuing our support through our career fair experience day—a fun and welcoming environment for all where applicants as well as their friends and family can turn a job search into a day of community building.”

“One of Innovation Collective’s core values is community building,” said Steve Karboski, community lead for Innovation Collective. “We are excited to play a part in this career day experience to further build this community, in this town and help folks find life changing careers. Innovation Collective is determined to help people find the magic inside of them and show that there is a seat at the table for everyone, to build together.”

“The results of a diverse and inclusive workplace can earn deeper trust and more commitment from employees in a company that has a diverse workforce, this shows acceptance and value in an inclusive work environment,” said C. Sonia Martinez, executive director of the Mohawk Valley Latino Association.

“The foundation of an equitable society lies in its inclusion of everyone in education,
housing, and employment opportunities,” said a representative from the Black Leadership Coalition.

These positions are available as Indium Corporation continues to expand its manufacturing capabilities in the Mohawk Valley. The materials that production operators help create play an important role in some of the industry’s most popular products—from cars and cell phones to premium consumer electronics, security systems, and much more. This also includes ensuring essential industries are supplied with needed materials during the pandemic, such as ventilators for the medical community and the continued development of telecommunication devices for first responders.

Production Operator responsibilities can vary, but generally include operating equipment, or performing duties to process, mix, form, assemble, and package raw metals, formed metals parts, or inorganic compounds into finished products for distribution to customers globally. Work is largely directed and performed under close or general supervision.

As an essential business that has remained operational throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Indium Corporation has worked diligently as a leader among local manufacturers in the development of The Manufacturing Pledge to help keep employees safe and factories running.
