I recently caught up with Brent Boek, Supervisor of the indium cell at our Utica Business Park manufacturing facility in New York. Brent and his crew work hard to create all types of custom fabricated indium parts, from specialty indium wire to customer-specific solder preforms. For Brent and the team, things never get boring with new designs, alloys, and packaging requirements.
Jim: Brent, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions for the readers. You’re well known around Indium Corporation as the go-to guy for pure indium and indium alloy parts. Could you tell us a little bit about the men and women that make up your team?
Brent: It’s my pleasure Jim, I always have time to talk about our team. Our current team members are quite a diverse group of folks, but they all share the same vitality. Some of them have worked here their whole careers, in many capacities, whereas others have come from different backgrounds, bringing with them knowledge they have learned from their other experiences.
Jim: Tell us a little about your background Brent.
Brent: I myself come from supervisory roles and the military (United States Marine Corps). It’s these experiences that define my work ethic and what I expect from my teammates. My teammates' experiences define what they expect from me.
Jim: Your team does a great job working together.
Brent: At the end of the day we all have one common goal to achieve, and that is to provide our customers with quality products that meet or exceed their expectations. Our backgrounds, our work ethic, and our camaraderie make that common goal something we achieve daily. There are too many moving parts to effectively accomplish our goal without the aid of others. We appreciate and respect each other’s roles and responsibilities, and help each other whenever we can. Coming from a military background, where I needed to depend on my fellow service members, this is refreshing to see in a manufacturing facility. The diversity in our team is what makes us tick, and it is what makes us successful.
