Starting from scratch is the most difficult part of the process. “What do I want to say?” is what runs through my head when I sit down to write an application note. I draw out all the ideas that are important to cover in the document – while remembering to keep it as focused as possible. An application note should be an answer to a specific question, but it still should address the needs of the entire audience. To do this, it is best to provide as complete an answer as possible and leave little to question. That process requires a bit of ‘devil’s advocate’ questioning but the output is a much more complete work.
