Indium Corporation was founded in 1934 by Dr. William S. Murray, operating from his garage at 805 Watson Place in Utica, New York. Today, the company is a premier materials refiner, smelter, manufacturer, and supplier to the global electronics, semiconductor, thin-film, and thermal management markets with five local facilities in Utica, Clinton, Rome, and New Hartford in addition to facilities in China, Germany, India, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom.

Inaugurated in 2012, the company offers an award-winning college internship program which has launched the careers of over 100 college students in STEM fields.
