Gallium is at the foundation of the modern world, powering the semiconductor material without which modern communication technology would be impossible. WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS, and electric vehicles all depend on gallium based semiconductors (GaAs and GaN). To manufacture these semiconductors, metallic gallium is needed to construct the source materials (wafer crystals and epitaxial wafers).

MOCVD
Metal-Organic Chemical Vapor Deposition (MOCVD) is the most common method for growing gallium-containing semiconductor films. Key precursors include TMG (tri-methyl gallium) and TEG (tri-ethyl gallium).
Solar Applications
Gallium is used in CIGS (copper-indium-gallium-selenide) thin-film solar cells and triple-junction solar cells, maximizing energy capture across the entire solar spectrum.
