Indium Mailbag – Two Heat-Spring® Questions

  • In today’s Indium Mailbag, we have two questions regarding the Heat-Spring® thermal interface material. The first question asks, “We're interested in testing your Heat-Spring material in an optics application. How do we get hold of a sample?”

When we initially started offering the Heat-Spring years ago, we knew it was important to get this product into the hands of engineers and technicians. We have a few different ways for you to obtain the Heat-Spring material. The easiest is to visit our online store to purchase a Heat-Spring Kit and order a pre-packaged bundle of 0.5, 1, or 2 inch square preforms. Another way to start the process is to contact us at AskUs@Indium.com and discuss your needs with an Technical Engineer or Account Coordinator. This is your best option when you need a customized solution that we don’t have avaialble in the online store.

Speaking of customization, our next question takes us way past the footprint of the larger 2” x 2” square preforms we mentioned earlier. This person asks, “Do you have a size limit on your Heat-Spring TIM?”

This is going to be answered more completely on a case-by-case basis, but we can easily provide Heat-Springs up to 4” x 4”. If you have a larger Heat-Spring design in mind, please contact one of our Technical Support Engineers so that we can find the perfect solution for you.
