Job Responsibilities  

Position Overview: The Quality Technician is responsible for the inspection and testing of incoming materials, work in progress, and finished goods to ensure they meet required specifications. The role involves operating laboratory and measurement equipment, maintaining accurate records in quality system databases, and generating the reports required to support quality assurance activities within a defined area of production.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Laboratory & Testing Activities

  • Perform testing for acceptance of incoming raw materials and manufactured goods.
  • Conduct laboratory tests on final products (e.g., viscosity, metal %, solder ball).
  • Carry out quality control tests on raw materials and other products.
  • Support statistical process control (SPC) to ensure batch-to-batch consistency.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

  • Input test, inspection, and calibration results into quality system databases.
  • Produce Certificates of Analysis.
  • Inspect finished products and authorise release to customers.
  • Monitor and maintain quality metrics.
  • Update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as required.

Equipment & Laboratory Management

  • Monitor, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work environment to prevent contamination.

Collaboration & Support

  • Work with technical support, manufacturing, quality engineers, and operations teams to meet objectives.
  • Participate in problem-solving activities (e.g., 5 Whys, 8D, Fishbone).
  • Support customer complaint investigations when required.
  • Support health, safety, and environmental activities as needed.
  • Comply strictly with all health and safety procedures.

Requirements

  • Conscientious and thorough
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel & MS Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work confidently with mathematical and statistical concepts (fractions, percentages, ratios, graphs).
  • Knowledge of quality standards (ISO9001/14001, IATF16949) and statistical tools (SPC, PPAP, data analysis).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
  • Highly organised with a flexible attitude.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to work from home when required (laptop provided).

Science or Engineering education to at least:

  • Aโ€‘Level in a relevant subject (e.g., Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science), or
  • BTEC National Level 3 in Applied Science/Engineering, or
  • HNC/HND in a technical discipline, or
  • An equivalent level of technical training or industry experience.
