Product Overview
Indium Metal
Crucial for indium tin oxide (ITO) in LCD displays and touch sensors, indium also powers the semiconductor indium phosphide (InP) light source for optical fibers in the modern Internet.
Germanium Metal
Used in optical and fiber optical applications. Germanium’s optical properties make it the material of choice for imaging in the infra-red wavelength range.
Gallium Metal
Known for its low melting point, gallium is essential in compound semiconductors like gallium arsenide (GaAs) and gallium nitride (GaN). It forms liquid metals when alloyed with indium and tin.
Tin Metal
Used in solder alloys for centuries, tin is key in modern semiconductor lithography tools and advanced soldering applications.
Features
Indium, gallium, germanium, and tin are metals without which modern life is impossible. Most high-tech developments over the last century could not have happened, including the internet, smart phones, and aerospace technologies.
31, 32, 49, 50
Gallium, germanium, indium, and tin, located in the 4th and 5th rows of the periodic table, have readily available electrons for forming compound semiconductors, transparent conductive oxides, and other advanced materials used in high-tech applications.
99.99%
Four nines (4N) represents our standard purity level, with higher purity options available to meet specific customer needs.
Quantum Dots
Quantum dots, made from indium and gallium compounds like InP and GaP, are increasingly used in flat-panel TVs and computer displays to achieve a wider color gamut, closer to what the human eye can perceive.
World Market Availability
Despite media reports, indium, gallium, and germanium are not truly rare. The perceived scarcity arises because they are byproducts of zinc and bauxite mining, not directly mined. Industry players worldwide are increasingly addressing supply challenges.
Metal Products
We offer In, Ga, Ge, and Sn metals with purities from 4N (99.99%) to 6N5 and higher. Purity is critical for high-tech applications, as impurities affect performance. Our manufacturing ensures the highest quality to meet demanding specifications.
Related Applications
Indium Corporation’s offered metals are suitable for a variety of applications.
High-Temperature Soldering
Offering high-temperature soldering materials for critical applications in harsh
Related Markets
Indium and Gallium are essential for compound semiconductors in radio frequency communications, Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), quantum dots (InP, GaP), and Gallium Nitride used in automotive semiconductors. These metals also enhance battery chemistries, including alkaline and specialty lithium batteries. Key markets include:
