Indium Sulfamate Plating Bath: What Can You Plate?

I wanted to talk a little bit about our indium sulfamate plating bath. One of the biggest questions is what can you plate to? Plating is like soldering in that typically what is easy to solder to is easy to plate to. So for example gold is easy to plate to while aluminum and stainless steel are not easy to plate. You can, with the indium sulfamate plating bath, plate to non-metallics that conduct. These non-metallics include wet glass, certain metal oxides, and glazed ceramics. If the surface is not the appropriate material the “plating” can peel off. With brass you are going to want to plate that with Ni before you plate it with the In bath.
