Indium Corporation Announces Stencil Printing Fundamentals Webinar

February 17, 2021

Indium Corporation’s Meagan Sloan, CSMTPE, Technical Support Engineer, will host an InSIDER Series webinar on stencil printing fundamentals in two sessions on Tuesday, March 2 at Noon Eastern Time (5 p.m. British Time) and Thursday, March 4 at 9 a.m. Eastern Time (2 p.m. British Time).

As the industry has evolved and SMT has become more demanding, it is important to understand the basics of the process. One of the most important first steps in the SMT process is successfully getting the paste on the board, which is commonly done by stencil printing. However, a majority of defects in the SMT process can stem from incorrect stencil printing setup. Going back to the basics and ensuring you have the correct setup can save you from defects down the line. In two sessions of Stencil Printing 101, Sloan will talk about the solder paste printing process and typical design of experiments (DOE) that can be used to obtain data on how the solder paste will perform.

Indium Corporation’s InSIDER Series is a free program designed to deliver expert technical content, share industry knowledge, and promote professional growth using a virtual platform. Current and future webinars can be found at www.indium.com/webinar.

Sloan provides technical support, including guidance and recommendations, to customers related to process steps, equipment, techniques, and materials. In addition, she delivers technical training to staff and industry partners. Sloan joined Indium Corporation in 2018 after receiving her master’s degree in chemical engineering from Syracuse University. She received her undergraduate degree in a dual program between Le Moyne College and Syracuse University. While there, she earned the American Institute of Chemists Student Medal Award, the American Chemical Society (ACS) Division of Analytical Chemistry Undergraduate Award, and the ACS Division of Organic Chemistry Undergraduate Award. She is a member of the ACS and the Surface Mount Technology Association (SMTA), and holds a leadership position in the SMTA Empire Chapter as vice president of Young Professionals. Meagan is a Certified SMT Process Engineer through the SMTA.
