Indium Corporation’s CW-232 Flux-Cored Wire Wins Mexico Technology Award

November 9, 2021

Indium Corporation earned a Mexico Technology Award for CW-232, its low-spatter, flux-cored wire for robotic soldering during an award ceremony on Nov. 3 at SMTA International in Minneapolis, MN, USA.

The Mexico Technology Awards, sponsored by Mexico EMS, recognize the best new innovations in the printed circuit assembly and packaging industries within the past year. The awards program is designed to promote best practices in the areas of technical innovation, manufacturing quality, and productivity by recognizing the companies achieving the highest standards and driving forward Mexico’s electronics assembly industry.

Indium Corporation’s CW-232 is a uniquely formulated flux-cored wire designed to meet the demanding requirements of robotic and laser soldering applications by delivering additional wetting power in order to achieve higher throughput. It also works exceptionally well in hand soldering applications.

CW-232 combines superior wetting speed and spread performance with spatter control technology, attributes not often seen together in a highly active flux-cored wire. Traditionally, high flux activity and high activation make spattering difficult to control. CW-232’s spatter control technology prevents flux interference with circuit board electrical properties which can impair the vision system of a robotic soldering machine. In turn, this can lead to operators burning their hands during manual soldering and less aesthetically appealing finished products.

Indium Corporation’s extensive manufacturing process control ensures that CW-232 cored wire provides precisely the right amount of solder while minimizing process setup challenges and maximizing yields. The result is an extremely reliable and strong solder joint. It is available in lead-free, tin-lead, and high-lead alloys in a wide range of diameters and flux core percentages.
