Indium Corporation Former Board Chairman Posthumously Honored by Mohawk Valley EDGE

Indium Corporation‘s former board chairman William (Bill) N. Macartney III was posthumously honored with the Christopher Destito Award by Mohawk Valley EDGE as part of their annual Leading EDGE Awards during a ceremony on Monday, Nov. 7.

At the time of his passing in 2021, Macartney had loyally served Indium Corporation for more than 50 years. He joined the company in 1967 and was named President in 1970. He accepted the position of Chairman in 1985. Throughout his tenure, Macartney was instrumental in leading Indium Corporation from a single location in Utica to a global high-tech manufacturing company, all while maintaining the company’s headquarters and a strong manufacturing presence in Central New York.

“Bill was a brilliant business leader but his enduring legacy may be best defined by his unwavering commitment to his employees, customers, and community,” said Greg Evans, CEO. “We are honored for this recognition of his hard work and his innovative, entrepreneurial spirit.”

The Leading EDGE Awards were instituted in 1998 to recognize companies in the Mohawk Valley who are leaders in their industrial sector and the regional economy. The Christopher Destito Award, named after a founding board member, was created to honor an individual who possesses the same characteristics as Destito, who believed in the potential of the Mohawk Valley region.
