Indium Corporation received the Shining Star Company Award from the School and Business Alliance on December 7.
The School and Business Alliance, a service of Oneida-Herkimer-Madison BOCES, assists students in making successful transitions from school to careers, and supports the development of a qualified workforce in the Mohawk Valley. Strategies are used to help students understand the world of work, decide on a career, graduate to post-secondary studies, and transition from student to professional.
Indium Corporation was recognized for its outstanding support of the School and Business Alliance and for its conscientious approach to providing quality job shadowing experiences. The award was presented to Rick Short, director of marketing communications, and Dawn Roller, director of Indium Corporation’s headquarters services, by Zachary Blanks, a senior at Clinton High School in Clinton, N.Y. Blanks, who recently shadowed with several engineers at Indium Corporation, is applying to the United States Air Force Academy and the University of Utah to study chemical engineering.
“Job shadowing is a very meaningful way to give back to our community, supporting both our long and short-term roles as a responsible corporate citizen,” Short said.
“We have heard, time and time again, from BOCES administrators, educators, and students, that Indium Corporation employees provide outstanding job shadowing experiences,” Roller said. “Students return from Indium Corporation assignments bursting with excitement. Some inquire about returning for additional shadowing, or even working at Indium. What we do makes a difference for the community ? and that benefits us all.”
