Indium Corporation Associate Vice President of Human Resources, Dawn Roller, was honored by YWCA Mohawk Valley during its 33rd annual Salute to Outstanding Women reception on Thursday, April 21 at Hart’s Hill Inn in Whitesboro, New York.
Roller, who has been with the company since 1986, was honored for her contributions in the STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics education) category. The Salute to Outstanding Women is a decades-long tradition at YWCA MV that honors eight local women for their achievements and impact on the community. Salute honorees are nominated by the community and selected by a panel of independent judges.
“When people hear STEM, they assume this is a field for engineers and scientists,” Roller said. “STEM is a part of everyone’s life, every single day. Once you help make that connection, STEM becomes so relatable, so meaningful, and so exciting. Our goal is to show you where your place in STEM might be. At Indium Corporation, we believe materials science changes the world and we want to show you where you belong in STEM.”
Roller oversees Indium Corporation’s Human Resources department, ensuring that the company remains in full compliance with all requirements and continues to be an employer of choice. She has been instrumental in many significant advancements throughout her career with the company, including the early development of international sales regions, the startup of several global facilities, and the selection and implementation of various business systems in use today. Most recently, she introduced and led Indium Corporation’s initial STEM outreach programs for area students, and leads the company’s award-winning college internship and registered apprenticeship programs. Roller is currently serving on BOCES School and Business Alliance (SABA) board of directors.
