Buying Gallium (Shipping Considerations)

Category:
  • Gallium

  • The price of gallium may change between the time I write this and you read it, but the melting temperature of gallium will not change – so let’s talk about what that means to you when your are buying gallium.

Gallium has a melting point of ~30°C (86°F), which makes the physical state of the metal as predictable as the shipping temperatures it endures as it travels to you. For that reason, solid forms (shot) must be shipped cold to ensure that the individual droplets of gallium do not melt together into one blob of metal.

Indium Corporation uses cold packaging to ship gallium so that the shot can safely arrive solid under most conditions using only standard shipping (no refrigerated trucks needed).

If you would like to learn more about buying gallium, you can reach us at AskUs@indium.com. Our knowledgeable Technical Support Engineers can answer your questions and connect you with an Account Coordinator if you’d like to order some gallium.
