Three of Indium Corporation’s technology experts will present technical findings at Society of Vacuum Coaters (SVC) Technical Conference in Chicago, IL, April 18-21, 2011.

Malcolm Harrower will present the paper, Sustainability of Indium and Gallium Supplies in the Face of Emerging Markets, authored by Mike Murphy and Claire Mikolajczak. This paper answers questions regarding the demand for these elements, as well as the supply.
Jim Hisert will present a poster, Optimizing Thermal Vacuum Deposition Uptime by Increasing Evaporation Source Material Pack Density. The poster discusses the various material forms available to increase crucible pack density.
Dr. Omar Knio will present the paper, A Room Temperature, Low Stress Bonding Process to Reduce the Impact of Use Stress On a Sputtering Target Assembly, authored by Amanda Hartnett and Thomas Acchione. This paper covers the process to control stresses during bonding and the deposition process.
Malcolm Harrower has over 15 years of experience in the metals industry. He currently supports Indium Corporation’s sale of raw materials, especially indium and gallium. Malcolm is an Honours Metallurgy graduate from Sheffield University in the UK and has a post-graduate diploma in Marketing. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing and has written several articles on indium.
Jim Hisert supports materials for the photovoltaic industry. Like many other engineers in the solar industry, his background is in the semiconductor industry. Jim has presented at various industry organizations and technical seminars, and has authored technical papers on thermal management, as well as semiconductor packaging assembly. Jim is an active member of photovoltaic standards organizations, including the IPC, for which he chairs a subcommittee, "Acceptance Criteria for Tabbing and Stringing." He has a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology from the State University of New York’s Institute of Technology. He is a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Dr. Omar Knio is a Consulting Scientist for NanoFoil® Technology, Indium Corporation, and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. He received his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from MIT. Dr. Knio’s research interests include energetic materials, computational fluid mechanics, oceanic and atmospheric flows, turbulent flow, physical acoustics, chemically-reacting flow, dynamical systems, and asymptotic and stochastic techniques. He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics and ISRN Applied Mathematics. Dr. Knio has co-authored over 80 archival journal papers, two books, and is an inventor on 11 patents. He has also been the recipient of an Associated Western Universities Faculty Fellowship Award, and a Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Award.
