When I began my internship at Indium Corporation I was both nervous and excited. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I knew that this internship would be a great experience. From day one, everyone I met treated me kindly and with respect. I never felt out of place or less important than anyone else due to the fact that I was an intern. It was a great environment to walk into, especially for someone who has never before had an internship. This made the transition of moving to Utica much easier.
My first week was an adjustment. I struggled to remember everyone's name and to remember my way around the building. I couldn't even remember to bring my safety glasses when going to the lab. That is how I ended up with three pairs in just the first week. Week by week I stopped needing to adjust and started really enjoying my time here more and more. Unfortunately, now it's almost time to go.
The Indium Corporation teaches all of their interns many important life skills such as how to communicate effectively and how important it is to give back to the community. Being taught these skills every week is one thing that made this internship unique. Another reason this internship is not an average internship is that we are treated like full-time employees. We were given real responsibilities and our bosses trusted that we would get our work done before the ten weeks were up. Knowing that we were given real tasks also made the experience more worthwhile.
All of these things, and more, have helped me grow as an individual. I have learned to take more chances, experience new things, and see things from others' perspectives. I am very thankful to Indium Corporation for giving me this opportunity and I can't wait to see what's in store for the rest of our final week here as the 2016 Indium Corporation summer interns.
最美好的祝愿
